PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE FRONT COVER

Written Text from Audio
These are photographs of artists from the classic rock genre which were used on front covers. They use the colours either red, white or black for connotations with rock which are described in the front cover analysis. The lighting used is often dramatic, with the icons posing in either a glamorous way for a woman or a vaguely aggressive and manly pose for a man. The photograph of Blondie also appears significantly softer, indicating that the lighting may
have been defused using a soft box. The icon is made the primary focus by partially covering the masthead when appropriate, in addition to providing a contrast with the rest of the page, either portraying texture on an otherwise smooth looking page using lighting (Iggy Pop), including a contrasting colour (Blondie) or colour on an otherwise blank page (AC/DC), or lastly, including light on a dramatically dark page (Guns n' Roses and Black Sabbath).
